    Thanks for posting that. I'm not sure why I haven't thought about that, but they are well suited for this as they are light. I have a bunch of friennds that rebuild these and put new tops on them. Most prefer the older, lighter aluminum ones. I think I'll piggyback on your thought and look for one to start modifying.

    This old piece, outfitted for a bench varmint match years ago. The cartridge was a 22-250 and it shot like a lazer through 600 yards with 80 grain Sierra bullets. Later it was fitted with a 6MM barrel in 6MMBR and the glitter seemed to leave. As a 6MM BR it has been shot very little but will see some use soon.
