    Preferred powder

In efforts to get some action going. What is your preferred powder and cartridge it's for.

I'm a old school guy I guess since I only use hogdons dinosaur powder. H4895. It treats me well for .223 and very well for .308. Once I get the .224 broke in I'm guessing it will work good for that. The .223 is a ar and threw a scope on just to see. It got me to a .4 5 shot so scope off and I know it's plenty accurate with the irons now.

The .308 with it is absolutely amazing. It will bring in groups from .1 to .5 easily in both 155 and 168 weights. That's also not to exclude the 110gr golf ball vaporizer load either.

I have only tried varget and 4064. So my experience is somewhat limited. But they haven't been able to do what my go to can so haven't ever changed.

There are so many powders out there and some many different cartridges. I like H4350 for my 6.5x47L but Varget also works well for it as well as IMR4350 though it is more temperature sensitive. I use LT32 and N133 for the 6PPC. I like H4895 as well and use it in my .223 and .22-250 and also like the line of Reloader Powders and have many of them.

I use IMR 4895 in my 308. This past weekend I was shooting some 175gr Nosler Custom Competitions with a starting load of 39.5gr. FPS was a low 2100, and the load was light recoiling. I ran 50 of these to expedite barrel break-in (Ruger Precision). Next range time I will be doing a ladder run in .5gr increments up to 42.0gr. Kind of recreating the M118 round.

On rkittine's advice, I picked up some H4350 for my 30-06 that I will use in my Rem M700 Long Range.

I had a Rem 700 Varmit rifle, HS Stock 1/12 twist. My best load was using 25.5 gr. W748 , 52 gr. Sierra Natch bullets! Have a 4 shot group at 100 yds all in one hole!!

Since I load for Rifle, Shotgun and Pistol and all in multiple gauges / calibers, I have a large powder magazine. Had to have a legal one built to satisfy my insurance company as I had way over the New York State Residential limit.
