    imr350 30-06 load

Loading up to do a ocw test for my 30-06 hunting rifle.
I noticed the nosler book has a starting load of 53.0 grains.
imr web site starts at 56.0 grains
Check a few other sources and the starting and finishing loads varried by 3 grains... whats up with that

It's not unusual for various "sources" to vary, often quite a bit, when it comes to recommended start/max loads. The data each provides comes from a variety of sources. Some use test barrels in their facility using differing methods to determine what's safe. Others use "real world" load recommendations often gleaned from various field sources.

All the more reason I recommend that one use the powder manufacturers published data, learn how to read pressure signs, and then go work up your own loads. Even if one THINKS their rifle is exactly the same as what was used to derive the data, it rarely is the case. If it was, there'd be a simple list of loads that would perform perfectly every time, no matter what rifle they were shot in.
