Might have been a mass buy by a place like Dicks or Cabellas, who will do those kind of orders from time to time.

I am being told by Remington that I have a Model 700 Varmint Synthetic? It has a 26 In blue heavy bull barrel 1 in 10 twist chambered in 308, I can not find any information about Varmint Synthetic any where online or on Remington's website. When I asked Remington about if it is no longer made or were I could find info out about Varmint synthetic , they said they could only tell me what it was and year it was made when I gave them the serial number. Does anyone have any info on Varmint synthetic ? price new? Prices used ? It now wears a mag pul stock.

Dicks used to sell it labeled as a Long Range model (Black Friday special of like $325 after rebate), bunch of damn crooks as the Long Range model has a Bell and Carlson stock and Xmark Pro trigger (I wasnt happy when I picked mine up and looked it over, I should have paid more attention when I bought it). Your rifle is just a 26" heavy barrel adl in a cheap plastic stock. I did not shoot mine in stock configuration so I dont know it shot in that stock. I have one in .308 that before I even put a round through it I cut 6" off the barrel and put an Xmark Pro from my 300 WM Long Range. I put it in a Magpul Hunter stock and it shoots quite well, best group out of it so far is .27 moa @ 200 yards loaded with a Speer 168gr hpbt match on top of 44.5gr of 4064. This is my fun shoot the crap out of rifle.
.54 inches at 200 yards is outstanding. Good shooting. All of those companies that buy special runs, tend to put there own Model Designation on them. So Dicks Long Range was just there name that they used for the caliber and barrel length and contour.
