    Receiver Question on older 700

I have a 1966 manufactured 700 in 30-06. I have heard that the back of the receivers on older 700s are slightly lower, requiring some type of shim under the rear base. Anybody familiar with this? Should I get a modern 25 MOA Picatinny "bridge-type" mount to compensate for this?

I’ve found the picatinny rail makes alignment ridiculously easy, and that’s all I will be using in the future, depending on how far you plan on shooting 25 moa is getting up there, the most I’ve gone is 20 moa,and then you need a scope with good adjustability.

Get a set of Burris Signature Z Rings with the inserts and you will be able to make a number of adjustments to MOA set up as well as eliminate ring marks on your scope.
