    New here looking to build

Hello I'm looking to build my old tiered $250 700 in 30-06. I've been doing some reading over the last few weeks and looking for some more knowledge.

Not sure I understand your question. What to you want to turn it into? For what specific use?

I am a new member who has been shooting for 55 years. I have a Model 700 ADL in 243 caliber . I was intending on buying a new rifle in 6.5 Creedmore to take up long range shooting out to 1000 yards. Not shooting competition just fun. Been told my 700 in 243 will work fine for this. Instead of paying 1200 to 1500 dollars for a new rifle I need advice on what I need to do to set my current rifle this?

Welcome to the forum. How far are you from Chapel Hill James?

I shoot 1,000 yard benchrest. How many rounds do you think have been through your barrel? Barrel length? What is the twist rate of the barrel and have you done anything to the stock or trigger?

What kind of 1,000 yard shooting are you going to be doing? Open sights like Palma, F-Class, Benchrest etc.

To shoot 1,000 yards, you will do best if you reload.

If your rifle is tired, then might be time for rebarreling or setting back your barrel and rechambering for a cartridge more suited for 1,000 yard shooting.

Most common 1,000 yard cartridges these days are:
    6x47 Lapua
    6mm Dasher
    6.5x47 Lapua
    6.5x284
    .300 WSM
    .338 Lapua

To successfully shoot 1,000 yards, you need:
    Experience
    Decent Conditions
    The Right Equipment

A stock .243 ADL is not going to do well at 1,000 yards.

Answer some of those questions and I am sure that you will get some additional input from me and the guys here.
