Same handle on a few forums, here to find out what calibers the Short Shroud Varmint Specials we’re made in. Thinking all but .25-06 and 7mm-08. Any collectors out there?

Welcome to the Forum. Not sure all the calibers that the 700 Varmint models were made in, but there have been a lot. The .25-06 of course requires a long action as it is a variant of the .30-06 where the 7mm08 is a variant of the .308.

Yep, the short shroud was up to 1968 or thereabouts, so that rules out the 7-08, and I believe the .25-06 wasn’t cataloged until 1980 or so, so it shouldn’t have been made in a short shroud either, the two I’m not sure about in the Varmint Special are the .223 and .308? I did just get(still waiting to receive) a .222, can’t wait to shoot that one!
