    Remington triggers are a whole discussion unto themselves. And an excellent example of how someone modifies a design to avoid patent infringement!

    And as you will hear a lot here, and something I subscribe to is, unless you are shooting in Factory Class competition, first change to make is to swap out the trigger for a minimum of a Timney 510.

    Or we could argue about replacing the stock first ( if this were an X Mark Pro Trigger), but I think the stock here should be good to go as long as it fits the shooter!

    Since the OP is new to the Rem 700, I have the following links to a detailed description of the Trigger and its issues. The second link is the original posting and discussion by the author I believe. The 40x trigger is of the same basic design.
