With the Remington 700 SPS. (not tactical)
Got the scope dialed in...moved to 50...then to 100....final card. We had a pretty stout cross wind....and once I got the scope dialed in...I am right above ctr. This was with BVAC 150 gr. SP, bulk ammo.
I am real happy with the Nikon Scope I put on her...which is a Buckmaster 6-18 X 40. Held zero without an incdent.
Factory stock...24" barrel. I assume I should be 1.92 up @ 100yds using 150gr ammo as above for a 200yd zero?
We ran out of time at the range....so I will be going back to tighten this up.

Finally got the scope on her...Nikon Buckmasters 6-18X40, EGW Base/20MOA canter and BDC Reticle.
Real happy with it...pic is kind of poor, as it was shot with my cell. CAA Tactical rings.
Out of curiosity...has anyone replaced their stock on their 700 (non tactical barrel)? And if so...what did you put on there? Did the stock require bedding with the install?
EDIT: Shot a better pic(s)

Nice Looking Gun, And Groups look nice and tight too, you might can get some even tighter groups, with Hornady A-MAX 168grain Ammo thats what I been using in my LTR Tactical, but I dunno cause your groups look pretty darn good. As Far as your stock goes what a kind are you wanting to replace yours with? I believe the H&S Precison Stock that comes on the LTR's and 700P's would work for you. There is a link in the (MY 700) page (listed Below) on here that a guy had an sps tactical and put the H&S Precision on. I know your not looking for info on the SPS tactical but this link might be usuful to you.

All replacement stocks should be re-bedded. It's very easy to do and costs very little but the results are Major.

Good shooting btw.

Thanks for the links....I do have 3 boxes of the A-max 168gr. here at the house...waiting to hit the "big" range to shoot it...and I have not looked at the ballistic data to see what my adjustments will be with that load in there vs. what I am zero'd with. M24shooter has a real nice pair...lol
This 700 is being built on a budget...and will be my hunter. I'm planning a "stouter" version later...kind of like my AR's. An aftermarket stock is on the to do list.
I Know what you mean NBT, there so much I wanna do to my rifle but I have to patiently wait on funds. You also can go on Hornadys website and get an Idea of dope for your rifle its pretty close, I've shot with it out to 500-600 yards effectively, (LINK BELOW), I always go to Rifle : Long cause you can get ranges from 100 to 1000 Yards, enter sight height (Distance from center of Barrel to the Center of Scope tube), Enter the Ballistic Coeffeicent or B.C. For the 168 Grain A-MAX which is .475, And your Muzzle Velocity, If you have or have access to a chronograph that would get ya even closer. I always use 2700 or 2650fps gets me close anyway. You also Can print the list to place on your Rifle.

Uh huh....yeah..... what? Oh sorry....was trying to.... uh nevermind.
YOU NEED A DIFFERENT AVATAR....if I am going to try and read your posts....LOL.
Cool link from Hornandy... I am going to make a range card for the gun, and laminate it....Hornandy will help. I can reload 308 on a friends Dillon...so that should help me get out.
Regarding stocks....I have been looking at the B&C Medalist...and I am wondering if having "too big" of a barrel channel will affect performance?
On a side note....this is the ammo I was shooting to break in the 700...and it's been very consistent for me....not a bad price.

The Avatar Catches everyones eyes, sometimes when Im typing I cant help but get thrown off topic too, lol. Im Very Interested in the Bell and Carlson Tactical/Medalist A5 Fully Adjustable, But I dunno, quite a bit of dough, As far as the barrel channels Im not to sure. I know one guy had a SPS Tactical with the stock that I mentioned it looked Awesome.
Well I just emailed Blackhawk regarding the Knoxx CompStock they have...available in Rem 700, standard barrel, full length or pillar bedded....However.... it only lists the BDL, but I believe this would be the "same" spec as the SPS? Will see if I get a reply. I have emailed a variety of stock MFG's regarding the above "issue".... no response from any of them to date. Yep, if this was a Tactical model...life would have been a bit easier in regards to an aftermarket stock.
I guess my only other option is get one of the stocks that are cut for the HBAR, and add bedding?

Hello, the SPS and BDL do use the same stock, the Blackhawk axiom stock will mount just fine,
there is not a barell chanel to be envolved. The barell just hangs out there above the forearm.BDL
Just means that the rifle has a trap door magazine or a drop box. a ADL stock has a blind magazine
and no hole in the bottom of stock for trap door, hope this helps.

Good to know...I am trying to avoid the Axiom...it just looks too flimsy to me. I am forming an opinion off of a pic...so who knows. The later compstock...looks pretty stout...and if I can get one that will work with my config...it will be on it. I will certainly keep everyone informed of my decision...and review of said stock that ends up on this 700.
Heck...I started looking at Shillen barrels...(widens my stock options) but the gun shoots so good as it is...hate to change out a "shooter"... just for a better stock.
