Don't forget, you might want to put lens covers on your scope. Depending on thickness, things could get a bit tight under the front one, with barrel clearance, that is.
42 mm scope Med or Low rings
I have a 42mm objective scope for now but may end up with a 50mm somewhere down the line. Any reason not to get the medium rings now ?

I have TPS low rings and one piece base with a Scope that has 50mm objective on a Remington 700 SPS Varmint. Plenty of room. In fact I will probably go to TPS Super low rings as the scope is still just a bit to high for my liking.
56mm objective, Burris low XTR rings and one piece base. Scope cap still fits, close, but still fits on a 700 SPS Tactical.
