hey just need a little insight.....is this job not for the novice? i want to change out my barrel for one without the 'taps' for the iron sights if nothing else but to clean it up.....been hearing about proper head spacing ect. and i know i would need to pick up a barrel wrench, should i leave this to gunsmiths? ive been told to switch out the barrels its gonna run $80-$150 would i be better off having some one 'fill' or solder the taps on the old barrel....i plan on duracoating everything a matte black anyway. thanks for any input.

If you're going to have it refinished anyway, just screw a proper sized screw into the holes then cut them off flush. File down to match the barrel contour then finish with emery paper. Replacing a barrel is best left to a gunsmith.
