The .270 was one of the "original 6" calibers offered between 1978 and 1984. From 1981 Remington started offering the classic in a different caliber every year. The first year of the classic, the rifles had open sights installed but they discontinued that after the first year except for some specific calibers. I'm pretty sure my dates are correct but forgive me if they are not, I'm not at home and don't have my books with me so I'm going off of my short memory. I'm a huge fan of the "Classic" and have 2 in the 30-06.
