I am currently working on putting togrther a custom 257 Roberts. my gunsmith has suggested strongly on the 700 receiver and bolt action. my question, are these actions still available directly from Remington. Brownell says they are not, and i would need to buy either a new or used rifle to get a action.

Brownell's Has them at: http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=32498/Product/REMINGTON-700-SHORT-LONG-ACTION-RECEIVERS These have the ISS Bolt & X-Mark Pro Trigger But, This would be a Good Start. They have a Limited Supply, So Contact them ASAP
Personally I'd Change out the Firing Pin Assembly for a Non ISS SpeedLock Assembly & Install a Jewel or Timney Trigger.

Are you looking for a Left Hand, or Right Hand action?
