does anyone have a remington model 700 VTR in 308w and what do you think about them compared to a rem 700 adl 308w with synthetic stock. been thinking of upgrading to a rem VTR in 308w again. any thoughts or opinions? and what about the X mark adjustable trigger.

he mate i thought about getting one but after alot of reseach on the web and sniper central people think that its not the best rifle the accuracy is only 2" at 100 yards/meters which is pritty average unless you only hunting at close range

I read the same thing over at SniperCentral. I think someone bought it and was able to tighten it up a bit, but I just don't think that barrel design would be inherently as accurate as say an SPS Tactical heavy barrel.

I HAD ONE IT SHOT GREAT WITH 42.0 GRS REL 15 168 GR SIERRAS BETWEEN 1/2 AND 3/4 INCH
GROUPS. RECOIL WAS MILD WITH MUZZLE BRAKE,TRIGGER WAS DECENT,BUT HOLD OUT FOR
XMARK PRO ADJUSTABLE TRIGGER (MFG AFTER JAN 1 2009) MUCH BETTER AND EASIER TO ADJUST
DID NOT CARE FOR STOCK (FLIMSEY) BUT WAS ALOT LIGHTER THAN SPS,TRADED IT FOR PSS.
IT WOULD MAKE A DECENT CARRY RIFLE OR LIGHT TACTICAL.

I have heard they are very ammo sensitive. So, shooting good groups is apparently dependent on finding the right load for your rifle.

IT ALSO SHOT 168 GR HORNADY TAP AND 168 FEDERAL MATCH UNDER AN INCH GRP
BUT DID NOT LIKE 147 GR WIN NATO OR FEDERAL AMERICAN EAGLE 150'S

You could get a good one or a bad one. if you get a lemon, get a ER Shaw barrel put on it, can be had for about 150 and that will hopefully take care of any accuracy. Failing that, get a good quality match grade barrel on it and it will shoot better or a 700P take off barrel. Can get them from TacOps.
