I purchased a Remington 700 in .300 Win Mag that the previous owner had custom built. It's got this really large piece of furniture mounted under the chassis that the bipod is attached to. I've never seen anything like it. Does anyone know what this is and why someone might want it on a rifle? It seems bulky and heavy and I'm not sure what the purpose is Thanks!

What is the width? There are adapters to make the bottoms flat for Bench Rest shooting on a rest. Typically would be 3". Then adding the tripod so it can be shot either way - Maybe?

Thanks Bob! Yeah I would say it’s about 3”. That makes sense. I appreciate your help!

You've got a bag rider with more than likely a sling stud that the spring-loaded bipod is attached to. Most likely a Harris or clone bipod.
