Greetings,

I'm trying to decide if getting a bipod is necessary. At this point, my shooting will be at a bench with sandbags. I don't plan on prone position shooting mainly because it's not allowed at my local range.

So the questions are:

1. Would a bipod be a stable replacement for sandbags at the bench?

2. Presuming that I went with a Harris bipod, which model do you suggest? (swivel, no swivel, etc...)

When I shoot from a bench I use a Caldwell Rock Jr. rest. Every where else I use a 9"-13" Harris bipod. I don't have the swivel one yet but I am planing on getting one eventually.
I do most of my shooting at various makeshift ranges, pits and fields where there are no benches. I find established ranges can get a little boring at times.

I shoot off bags, the bipod I have mounted I use more for parking the rifle when I clean it or keeps from
getting knocked over, but I can use it if I want.

I love my swivel Harris Bi-pod.You do not have to worry about the legs being exactly even height since you can tilt your rifle left or right o make up for it and also great on uneven ground.
