Hi dv! Welcome to the forums! Glad you say us over at SC, I post there frequently.
How do you like the Kuno scope? I've heard they are pretty good. How is the glass and picture quality?
Konus M30 6.5-25x44. Without it ever having been mounted on a rifle yet, I like it. The glass seems very clear just looking around the neighborhood. The turret knobs are crisp and very audible. I like having the focus adjustment on the side too but the knob is a little stiff. I guess that could be a good thing though. I didn't know what it meant when the advertising said anti-canting bubble until I looked through it. There's an actual bubble level at the very bottom of the view; pretty cool.
I like the blue illumination option too. I've got another scope that has the option of red and green but the blue seems less intrusive and less distracting; softer on the eyes maybe..
It seems very well built but the true test will come at the range. I'm putting on a 20 moa rail but not sure what brand it'll be. I took the rifle to a local shop to get the barrel cut - the guy only charged me $25 for a cut and crown and he did it in less than a week. All the other shops wanted $100 and a month. He asked me if I wanted a rail so yeah.. I do. I didn't ask him what brand of rail he was going to put on. Figured that if I didn't like it I'll just buy another. He's also hooking me up with 30mm scope rings and bore sighting. The rings and rail will be in addition to the $25. The old guy is the president of the Albuquerque gun club and owns his smith shop. Anyway, seems that I'm rambling.
So in short, the scope passes the Pre-Mount and Fire test. In other words, I'm not sending it back just yet
BTW: is this site new? Looks like it has lots of potential. I've owned Savage 10FP and Rem 700 and in n my opinion, there's no comparison; the 700 has a much smoother action, more accurate and feels like it's better built and even though the savage has the accu trigger, I like the 700 better.
Also, are there any plans for advertisers for this site.. ? I know that Stocky Stocks has a code and offers some incentives for customers that are directed via the code. They sell lots of Remington 700 Bell & Carlson stocks.
Cheers,
