Greetings fellow 700 owners. I found out about this site over at Snipercentral.com. I'm currently putting together an SPS; at the shop as I type this. Rem. 700 SPS in .308 cal. Barrel came at 26" but is cut to 24", putting on a B&C Medalist stock, being shipped from Stocky Stocks. Just got a new Konus M30 6.5-24x44 30mm tube mil-dot scope. Read good things about it at SC.

When the rifle is finished, I'll post pics and range report including my opinion of the B&C stock and Konus M30 Scope.

Hi dv! Welcome to the forums! Glad you say us over at SC, I post there frequently.

How do you like the Kuno scope? I've heard they are pretty good. How is the glass and picture quality?

Konus M30 6.5-25x44. Without it ever having been mounted on a rifle yet, I like it. The glass seems very clear just looking around the neighborhood. The turret knobs are crisp and very audible. I like having the focus adjustment on the side too but the knob is a little stiff. I guess that could be a good thing though. I didn't know what it meant when the advertising said anti-canting bubble until I looked through it. There's an actual bubble level at the very bottom of the view; pretty cool.

I like the blue illumination option too. I've got another scope that has the option of red and green but the blue seems less intrusive and less distracting; softer on the eyes maybe..

It seems very well built but the true test will come at the range. I'm putting on a 20 moa rail but not sure what brand it'll be. I took the rifle to a local shop to get the barrel cut - the guy only charged me $25 for a cut and crown and he did it in less than a week. All the other shops wanted $100 and a month. He asked me if I wanted a rail so yeah.. I do. I didn't ask him what brand of rail he was going to put on. Figured that if I didn't like it I'll just buy another. He's also hooking me up with 30mm scope rings and bore sighting. The rings and rail will be in addition to the $25. The old guy is the president of the Albuquerque gun club and owns his smith shop. Anyway, seems that I'm rambling.

So in short, the scope passes the Pre-Mount and Fire test. In other words, I'm not sending it back just yet ;)

BTW: is this site new? Looks like it has lots of potential. I've owned Savage 10FP and Rem 700 and in n my opinion, there's no comparison; the 700 has a much smoother action, more accurate and feels like it's better built and even though the savage has the accu trigger, I like the 700 better.

Also, are there any plans for advertisers for this site.. ? I know that Stocky Stocks has a code and offers some incentives for customers that are directed via the code. They sell lots of Remington 700 Bell & Carlson stocks.

Cheers,
dvickery

That's good to hear about the scope.

Yeah, the site is new, I put it together shortly before the end of last year. I'm a website developer by trade, so it was sorta a natural reaction to put a site together for 700 owners. I didn't really see a dedicated place on the web that I could find, so that was part of my motivation to put it together. Another member here, Quick, helped me with and we bounced ideas back and forth so he was a good help as well!

We are getting some members and I continue to write articles (which is open to the public if they would like to submit something for the sight) as I can and post some product reviews also. It hopefully gives people something to read at least... :D. We don't have tons of visitors yet, but if one would like to discuss advertising on this site, we could do that. I plan to eventually offer that as demand increases or if people ask for it. We hope it continues to grow and that people stay active in it!

Thanks for being here and for joining the forums!!

Well, it's a nice site with lots of potential. If you dont' mind, I'm going to plug it on my 2nd Amendment Rights myspace site located at www.myspace.com/gunrights

Thanks,
dv
Yes, by all means go ahead and plug on your myspace. I had a view of your myspace page earlier, good work!

2nd amendment all the way!!

If they interpreted the 2nd amendment the way the interpret the 1st, they would practically force you to own a gun. I think one of those talk radio commentators said words similar to that.
It's been plugged. Here's what I said:

Title of post:
New Remington 700 site. Got long rang accuracy?

Body of post:
Which rifle dominates the world of sniping? Which rifle do the Marines, Army, Navy and most Federal agencies choose for their bolt action sniper rifle needs? Which rifle has the best & longest standing reputation for out of the box accuracy and durability? The answer is the Remington 700.

If you own, ever owned, plan to own or are just interested in the Remington 700, I personally invite you to become a member of the Rem. 700 community by joining myself and friends over at http://www. rifle700. com

There are many great rifles that are capable of getting the job done when it comes to accuracy and dependability but I'm partial to the Rem. 700. Please join us over at rifle700. com - learn, contribute and pass the time after the range closes.

Best Regards,

Looks good! I see one spelling error I think, in "Got long rang accuracy..." shouldn't "rang" be "range"?

Yup, thanks I'll fix it.

G'day mate. Nice rifle there . I cant wait to see it completed. Ive considered one of the KonusPro scopes for my .22 but well, I already have three different scopes for it!!!!

Find out what rings and base you are getting. Im getting an EGW 20MOA rail and TPS HRT 30mm Med Rings. I'm doing a SPS Tactical build at the moment.
I've got the rifle mostly put together. I have to certify on the 600 yard range this weekend before I can use any of the longer ranges including the 1,000 yd range. Saturday is class, Sunday is prove yourself. The 20 moa rail and black rings won't be in until next week so the silver rings are loaners from the shop. No range report yet but here's how she looks so far:

Some more gun porn just because..

Range report to follow post certification.
