Explain the Moa Scope bases

I'm going to be getting a SPS tactical in a few days in .308 and I've noticed the MOA bases and I assume that one will be lower than the other to accomadate the bullet drop. If I'm looking to stay in the 100 to 500 yard range mostly but not exclusively what would be a good recommendation ? I may at some point down the road want to go out further. Thanks PS sorry if this is posted in the wrong place...

Hey mate. No sweat, fine place to post it.

If you ever want to shoot further then 500yds, your going to like having a 20MOA base. Just get one and dont look back. makes life simple is you wish to shoot out to 1000yds.

Yup. What he said.
So shooting at 100 to 500 yards I would be ok with them too ?

Won't hurt a thing to have them at shorter ranges. Most of my shooting is at 100 and 200 yards on my home range. Once a year I go to North Dakota and try to shoot Prairie Dogs at a 1000 or so and for that I need it.
Ok now could you recommend a decent one thats not going to cost half as much as the gun ..lol

I use the leupold. They used to be 20 MOA but now the must have changed them when I wasn't looking because they are listed as 15 MOA. MIdway has them fo about $25 bucks. My shooting buddy just ordered one.

I started using these back in the 60's when the Military thought they were good enough for Snipers and us Match shooters. Never had a problem with them.
