Last Sunday was the first time out with my new SPS Tactical .308 and I couldn't have been more pleased with the results. They are not kidding when they say a tack driver outta the box! I have a Nikon Buckmaster 6x18x40 SF as optics and was shooting my first reloads ( 168 SMK, 43g RL-15, Wolf LR primer, Win brass and COAL of 2.800" ) I worked up and here are the results shooting at 100 yds......

The rifle first.....

Good 5 shot grouping.....

Better 5 shot grouping.....

I cant wait to get more range time with this amazing rifle and with more practice and working up different loads i'm sure things will get alot better!

Thanks for the kudo's Shaun. Correct you are in the upgrading. I am already looking at having the bolt worked on in having a Badger Ordinance knob installed and the bolt handle drilled and tapped to attach it more soundly to the bolt. I'm also looking at replacing the stock with the one from the 700 5R and replacing the plactic trigger guard/magazine plate with a better steel unit.
i guess you went to the Lincoln rifle range :D

i just did a bunch of test with some reloads on my sps tac.

if you reload that will get you some real nice groups but if you dont try
some 175 smk's there real good through that barrel.

Yes it was Dillman range and yes I do reload. I have been using 168 SMK's in my loads because I have been shooting no further then 300yds so they work great. If I push out further then 300yds 175 SMK's will work nicely at the longer ranges.

So far the best grouping I have is .350" @ 100yds and if it were not for a 5th shot flyer I shot 4 rounds at .750" @ 200yds. Just got a little anxious and anticipated the shot. Shooter fail, but practice will make perfect!
You must be very happy with that rifle, mate and yourself.

Thanks Quaid! I am very glad to see this kind of accuracy from a production rifle.
Nice group for your first time out with it! Look like you got a good one. I was impressed with mine as well!
the SPS Tac are worth every penny and it a super good accurate gun out of the box.
hellow to the group, excellent shooting!, but try measuring center to center on your groups, which is the more ore less accepted method-you will find that you're shooting .5 minute of angle groups-might as well give credit where credit is do!---my sps tactical .308 will shoot in the .3's with 168sierra hpbt -40.5gr imr4064, win lr primers and lapua brass-the most accurate rifle I have ever owned!-I have no doubt that that most rem 700's will do this or better
I use the Sierra HPBT in mine as well and they can shoot tight groups!

One way to measure is to measure the outside like you are doing, then subscract the caliber of the gun. So your .740" would actually be .740" - .308" = .432"
Wow, that is great shooting, I am now very keen to take my yet to be fired SPS Tactical to the range to fire some rounds.

Mine is a 308 as well, hope it's as good as yours.
