Forum Photo Manager?

Lately we have had a number of users wondering about how to post photos and such on these forums. Usually it requires that one sign up for something like PhotoBucket or some other type of service. However, some don't feel comfortable giving information that some of those services offer.

How would you like to see an integrated photo manager for these forums?

Here's how it would work:

It would be associated with your username that you already have... no additional required information.

There would be a main link at the top of the forums page called "My Photos".

Clicking on this link would take you to a separate page that opens in a new window where you could upload your photos. You could also specify a width that you would like the photos to display at.

When you go to post a topic, your photos would display in thumbnails below the "Write message" box. It would show the BBCode for each photo you have uploaded. You would simply copy and paste that line of text into the the "Write message" box where you type your post. The image would show once the topic is posted.

I would like your feedback on this idea and also any other thoughts you have.

How much server space would you need?
Does this sound like a good idea?
Would it make things easier for you to post photos and write posts?

A small yearly fee would probably be required for this to help cover server space costs etc. You would receive a "supporting member" icon in your signature or in the avatar section.

This concept is conceptual at this point, but I wanted to get your feedback on it!

While it's a good idea, I think that you could use the server space more efficiently by having the members use PhotoBucket or the like.

Plus there is a distinct possibility that the existing server will slow down.

I say NO.
I agree "No"
While it seems like a easy thing to do now.
What about when there are 500 members? 1000 members? 10,000 members?
Will everyone be able to have 5,10,15 meg of space to save their pictures.
If not why delay the fact. They need to learn to do it now.
And if they will learn to post pictures this way why not learn to do it that way.
Photo bucket is easy to use.
That's my .02 cents
Yeah mate, I agree, it could prove to be very slow and Photobucket is easy, its not as if you have to use REAL info, just enough to sign up.

If people don't feel comfy using photobucket, then email the images to me and Ill upload them for you.

Another option is to have a Forum Photobucket account?? That could be handy. That way people don't have to have individual ones.
I don't really like photobucket, but at least we're using their server space. I got a negative response to one photo, because most users there are not "gun people". I say lets us their service.

You can make all your Photobucket photos "Private" so nobody can see them until you post them on a forum.
Thanks. I really haven't spent much time on the site. I'll make the necessary changes.
