So I picked up a 700 in .308 (I'll post pictures after I take it to the range tomorrow). I was at the shop picking it up and they had a Harris bipod for sale. It was used and for sale for under $70 so I grabbed it. It's one of the 3 leg models, which I didn't realize would be way too long!

So I'm thinking, what if I could take one of the legs off and mount the feet on the 2nd set of legs. I have access to a machine shop and I'm fairly mechanically competent (getting my BS in mechanical engineering in a few months a few decades late). Is there an easy way to do this or do I just have to cut and drill?
Thanks!
