I am very familiar with Remington 700 BDLs. However, kind of confused about one rifle. .222 rem mag. According to internet search it is a ADL because it doesn't have the fore cap. It's a 1966 (barrel code AN). It does have a hinged floor plate not a blind magazine, which my research indicates an ADL has a blind magazine not the hinged floor plate. Any help would be appreciate4d.

It appears there were not “published” models that fit your description. Its possible a smith modified the ADL for the BDL bottom metal, but more than likely this was a special run for a large retailer like Sears, Western Auto, or some other retailer.

If your serial number on the receiver is less than 387347 that will also verify the rifle is pre Nov. 1968.
