Hello
I am supposed to get a small bonus from work and was thinking about finally getting a Lee Enfield.
Any advice, tips or cautions?
I've wanted one for a long time and now just might be the time.
I will not have enough money for a matching numbers collectable. I just want a decent reliable shooter.

Well, If you just want a shooter, depends what model, a No 1 Mk III* is nice. But a No 4 Mk I or MK II may be easier for you to get. Savage made some, aswell as Longbranchn in Canada.

I'd start looking on gunbroker and also in pawn shops as well as normal gun shops and see what ya can find. Also look around on the net for a few Lee-Enfield sites and read up on the different models.

If you wnat to learn about them, grab Ian Skennerton's book "The Lee Enfield" Its very informative.

Let me know what you plan on getting.

Thanks Quick
I'll start looking around and see whats available.
The book you mentioned must be out of print and very popular.
A quick search on Amazon and EBay shows a best price of around $74.00 U.S..

I ended up with a Savage built No. 4 mk1. It was the only one any where near
decent that I found in my price range.
Cleaning cosmoline right now. What a mess.
