Hi I'm new to the forum, I recently aquired a model 700 22-250 but I can't find anywhere on the internet that identifys the markings on my gun, there is REP and an upside down heart on the right side of the barrel and 9kn04 on the left side with a set of six number starting with 214 on the right also. Any ideas what I have here? Thanks

KN is the month and year of manufacture. May of 1966 or 1993. If the 1993 is correct the Serial number on the receiver will begin with a letter. This information is in the stickies on the forum topic you posted the question in.

Welcome Bart. I too have a 700 with an upside-down heart. Mine is an ADL chambered in 30.06; I believe it was manufactured in 1967, as that was the year my dad gave it to me for Christmas when I was 14. Since, it has harvested many a white-tailed deer and a few axis, sika, aoudads, and turkeys.

As for the upside down heart: Johnny Glueck, a gunsmith in Tomball, Texas who owns "Active Camo," did some work on it in 2010. He told me (so I guess it's true?) that each final assembler has a unique identifying mark, and the upside-down heart belongs to the woman who assembled my rifle. I forget her name he quoted, but you might reach out to Johnny:
