I've known I had a good load for my Model 70 in .300WSM for quite a while. Today I decided to see just how good. I backed off to 300 yards and shot a 5 shot group with my elk hunting load. The load is a 180g Accubond over 70g of IMR 7828SSC. I used Winchester brass and primers and an OAL of 2.9". The round shoots at 3150fps out of my gun. Here's what happened:
There was a 10-15mph crosswind so that could account for some of the deviation but overall it's a good group at 300 yards for a hunting rifle. Center to center the group is 2.6" even with the wind.
