Hey,

I have a used Sportsman .223 with a used Redfield 4-12 on her. It's a tack driver with 50 grn bullets. I'm thinking it may have a 1:12 twist because I don't get really tight groups with anything heavier.
I found this site looking for info to pull the bolt. I though I remembered pulling the bolt years ago, but it's been sitting in my safe for about 20 years.
So here I am, I'm going to look around.

Found the bolt release. Can't believe I missed it before.

Run a cleaning rod down the bore with a tight patch. Mark a starting point and when the rod makes one revolution, measure the distance the rod has travelled. Some Remingtons had a 1-12 and some had a 1-14.
