Nice rifle Winxp.

I'm waiting with great anticipation for my new stock to arrive. Should be here any day now. How much tighter are you shooting with the new stock? I read 308's range report with the new HS.....WOW! Hope my accuracy improves even half of what he achieved.

Good Shooting,

RUSS

i think my biggest group after the stock upgrade and this is various powder measurements was .7's and the smallest i was able to pull off was .4's now i never shot the rifle with the houge stock. i love my HS stock and also i posted some pics here with factory cheapo federal 150gr SP rounds that i shot real well out to 100 yds

i think and this is if you dont reload that with just factory loaded 175 SMK's you should push .5 MOA all day :D

Hey Russ if you dont reload try to find some Federal gold medal match ammo for your SPS Tac. This ammo is loaded with the Sierra match king 168g bullets and will give you what your looking for in factory loaded accuracy. I reload so I can more closely control powder weight and bullet seating depth to achieve very consistant accuracy results.

You made a great investment in the new stock (HS Precision) and after you get it installed it should serve you very well. I agree with you on the wait. It was almost as bad as the waiting period for getting the rifle itself.....but man was it worth the wait. Where did you get yours and did settle on a color other then basic black?

Hope that stock comes before the weekend so maybe you can get it out and let us know what results you have. I bet you will be grinning from ear to ear!

I ended up purchasing the HS through Stocky's for $329 total. Midway had a great deal on theirs, but I wanted the Varmint style which has all the basic dimensions of the police-tactical, but a wider and flatter forend. Finally decided on the tan/black web finish.

I originally shot 3 different types of match ammo on my first outing, one of which was the Federal GM. I averaged around .7" to .8".

I think after my wife cools down from my latest purchase, (stock, bipod, more ammo.....) I need to start sweet-talking her about all the money I am going to save on ammo by acquiring a complete reloading system. LOFL!

i think once you get the reloading stuff together you will start saving money on match ammo.

i did some calculations and im around 12.50 a box of 20 custom 175 SMK reloads and thats Tax included and everything i spent from brass to the bullet.

my stock i got it for 200 bucks :D i think thats a deal. it was a 5r take off stock ..

i really like the 5R stock! I was looking at one on another forum, but the guy was asking too much for it.

If the Pistol grip was a tad longer, it would be a perfect stock IMHO. I love my HS Police.

Can you tell me, which modell this stock exaclty is ;)
The stock he has on his rifle is an HS Precision. His was a take off of a 700 5R .308 and I think they are only made for the 700 5R rifle only. You can look on other boards and see if others with 5r's are selling theirs as take offs. You can also get one like I have ( PST012 ) which is very close to the one you are asking about and they are available in several color choices. Check out the HS Precision stocks on their site and here is the link.....

And you can also check them out for a little cheaper price @ Stockys and heres their link....

Hope this helps!

Any short action stock will fit your Remington 700 SPS Tactical. Now if you want the exact model of stock I have, give me just a little bit to look it up again. It came off a Remington 5R, but there is a model for it.
