So, today I purchased a new Model 700 xcr Long Range Tactical, well, put it on layaway until I get paid next week. Its chambered in .308 win. Previous gun was an old Heym from Germany, found out it is worth a ton so I don't want to risk damaging it. Needed a new go to gun so did some research and chose this one. Went and saw it today, loved it, and got it.

Here is the link http://www.remington.com/products/f...del_700/model_700_XCR_tactical_long_range.asp

Pick from Remington:

Gun Info:

26" 1 in 12 stainless fluted heavy barrel
Bell and Carlson stock with full length bedding in Olive drab w/ black spider webbing
Externally adjustable trigger
Trinyte coated for durability
Weighs 8.5 lbs
.308 win.

I'm really happy with it, can't wait for some nice weather so I can break it in. For now I'm going to put a little Bushnell trophy 3-9 on it I had sitting around, but once it is spring and I have some more money I'll be getting a Leatherwood camputer m1000 or 1200, or maybe a Trijicon Accupoint not sure yet which.

I'm planning on adding a bipod, detachbable box magazine, and maybe a few other things as well...

I'll get pics once I get it. Any suggestions or ideas, let me know.

Is that the one with the hook on the butt of the stock? Seems to me that's one of the Tac rifle from Remmy that I'm interested in. (Really like the 5r, but funds do not allow at this juncture.)

yeah it is, it has the notch for resting on a sand bag or your hand
Thats a nice rifle mate. I like the stock on them.
Nice rifle and welcome to the forums!

Be sure to post some pics once you get a chance to shoot it and get some glass on it! Looks like that one has an externally adjustable trigger. Let me know how that is and how light you can go with it once you get a chance to play around with it.

I have still have the standard X-mark on my SPS Tactical... which isn't externally adjustable.

Awesome! Do you have a scope and stuff to mount on it?

workin on it, i need a rail and rings for my temporary scope
Looks nice mate. What scope are you going to use??
I guess if it's temporary, I wouldn't spend a ton of money on them now. I have a set of XTR rings on my AR-15, and I like them a lot actually. I wouldn't hesitate to put them on my .308 either... I think they could handle the recoil.
Try the TPS rings. They are good quality.
