Having hunted in Arkansas for several years in both regular gun season and muzzle loader season I purchased a Remington 700ML about 15 years back. It is extremely accurate, but I will always feel that more than 100 yards can usually be too far when using normal black powder guns. If I understand the new Remington it is built for much more power and can easily be used out to 300+ yards. The smokeless powder Savages also claim to be dependable on long ranges, but neither of them is for me. In addition to the Remington, I also have a TC Encore with a black powder barrel and a Ruger M77ML, Read that one of the members has an H&R 45-70 converted to black powder. Years back I used a NEF 45-70 barrel for the same purpose. Have mostly used it on a shotgun receiver although it works just as well on an SB2 revceiver. That conversion makes a light weight easy carry rifle.
