Good find on the JBM calculator. I've been trying to find a fomula for calculating muzzle velocity depending on barrel length. In my loading manual, I'm given a muzzle velocity for 24" barrel. I have a 20" barrel on my SPS. I'm sure there is a formula for this somehwere instead of the usual, "20 fps loss per 2" type forumula..." :/

Using that method just doesn't seem to cut it for me. I bet it's quite close to the real value though.
The best way to know for sure is to buy a chronograph. You can pick them up for under $100.

Wow, that's not such a bad price. I hadn't really checked into it much, because I though some of those bigger ones were quite expensive!

I will have to do a bit more research.

Have you used any of them before? Which kind would you recomend?
I use an F1 Master Chrony made by Shooting Chrony of Canada. This particular model has all the features handloaders need plus the ability to attach an optional printer. MSRP is $104 but I got mine off of ebay for about $80 new.

Just do an ebay search for "master chrony" in the sporting goods category and keep on eye on the ones offered by a seller name bullelk14, he's good to go!
