Hi there everyone from Arizona!

I am now the proud owner a used Rem 700 P with a 24 inch barrel chambered in .223

I have quite a few accessories coming my way over the next two weeks.
However there is one "little" problem of that there are no iron sights.
I did buy it with the full knowledge of there being no sights, and I plan to scope it.

Another problem is that my scope from Primary Arms is back ordered and wont arrive for several months.

So with all that in mind I don't want my rifle to sit in the closet for several months and so I'm looking to put iron sights on it so I can use it.

An ideal situation would that I have iron sights and just be able to add the scope (via picatinny rail) when it comes.

Is this possible / realistic ?

Thanks in advance for all ideas and suggestions.

Thank you FreeFloat,

I guess my next step is to talk with a few gunsmiths and go from there.
If its too expensive, well I will just suck it up and wait for my scope (or at worse get a crap scope to use while waiting for the good one).

Why nt just put a cheap scope on it for the time being and not start milling the receiver and barrel. You can buy a cheap used scope and sell it for what you paid for it. The rail will work with any number of cheap rings.

Ok change of plan. Not going to bother with irons at all. Thought about flip to side mounts but not going to bother.
This gives also gives me a reason to get another rifle lol

So yeah just have to wait for all the parts to arrive, assemble it and then stick a cheap scope on it till the real scope arrives.

I will upload pictures when its all together.

Thanks guys and I look forward to enjoying it.
