hey guys ,, im new to this site but glad i found it :) anyway i bought a used REM. 700 bdl in 30/06 years ago in a pawn shop,, after cleaning the hell out of it the thing really shoots well ,, but it only has an 18" barrel :/ i dont think ive seen one that short before ,, can anyone tell me why such a short barrel ???? it doesnt look as if it has been cut ,,front sight is still on and doesnt look alterd,,

The only thing that a short barrel effects is velocity.

You'll appreciate it some day when you can just turn off the hearing aid when you don't want to hear what someone is nagging you about :D

Well I now put hearing protection on every time I shoot expect if I'm hunting because for me even a .22 is loud enough to cause a slight ring in my ears.
