What about a "Tactical Accessories" category?

I have another question guys,

I am about to purchase a Harris bipod for my 700. I want the 6" to 9" BR model which comes with either straight smooth legs or indexed notch legs. I like the indexed one, but am wondering if it has more leg slop than the straight legger. Ultimately, I want the one with the most stability.

Has anyone compared the two?

Thanks,

RUSS

Hi Russ
I have both styles of pods and the one with the notched legs has about a strong 1/16 of an inch up and down play. I use the one with the notched legs the most and it has never affected my shooting. I am a perfectionist when it comes to my shooting equipment and the notches have never bothered me. I will say this the notches allow adjustment in 5/8to3/4 of an inch incrimments and the smooth leged pod allows for more precision adjustment of you rifle.Hope this helps.

Jerry
Thanks, Tango.

Welcome to the forum. Being about 120+ miles from any decent hunting or outdoor stores, I don't have many opportunities to actually "see and feel" the parts I want (or need) to purchase. It's great to have people here like yourself to share info, experience, and reviews with.

I have the notched leg one and it has served me well. I hear that if you are hunting on uneven ground that the smooth legged one will adjust at any position you need whereas the notched one is limited by its notches, but I haven't run into any issues yet. Here is a good place with a great price on one.....

Thanks 308.

I think my first question on this post should have been directed to the Forum Requests, instead of Site Requests. Unless I haven't noticed it, I did not see a category in which to post the bipod question. I think a Tactical Accessories Forum would be good for Q and A's relating to stocks, bipods, slings, cases, etc.....
Good idea. I've added a "General Accessories" section and create a "Tactical Accessories" forum as the first one. If you guys come up with other "accessory" type forums you would like in that section just let me know and I can add them!
Thanks SemperFi.

It's been great to have this site for all of us with questions regarding Remington 700s. I've used them for years hunting, but am very new to the precision shooting and tactical applications. As I've said before - Thanks to all the members and administators here for sharing their knowledge, experience, and reviews! It really saves us new guys a lot of time and heartache.
