Here are my two 700's. The set up for both is pretty basic, Nikon Buckmaster 4.5x14 scopes on Leupold bases and rings. Harris bipods and Eagle stock packs.

The 700VS (.308):

My LSS (.30-06):

The LSS doesn't get much action, but I do take the VS out every once in awhile. The only target pic I have is from a couple of years ago with the VS. This was right after I installed the Nikon scope and was doing the initial zeroing at 100 yards.

I started at the upper left diamond. My first three rounds (Covered with target dots) are at the right side of the the upper left diamond. I adjusted the scope and my next three were a bit left of the diamond (Also covered with dots). Once dialed in, I worked my way, clockwise, around the target. My last six rounds were at the large center diamond (1st 3 rds at 10:00 and the remaining 3 fairly dead center) .

The range itself was very nice and we had all to ourselves that day... :D! As you can see, I was using my Harris bipod in conjunction with a rear sand bag rest. I was shooting with Federal 168 grain match ammo.

The only thing more lame than lefty jokes is coming into a lefty thread to post lame lefty jokes. I'm going have to assume that you don't know that "southpaw" means left-handed and that we have heard them ALL.

-and I'd MUCH rather live between the Mississippi river and the Rockies than anyplace else. Seems that is the last stronghold for political sanity left in this nation.

Left-handed = right-minded and we hate bad jokes.

Start running. 308 A-max is good out to about 800 yds.

:D :p

LOL dumb jokes are the only ones I know. I know southpaw means left handed. I also figured you had already heard them before so I figured you would have a thicker skin. My mother and brother are both lefties so I have had quite a bit of practice with lame lefty jokes over the years.
How do you like the A-Max's by the way? I just got a box of 168s but I havent had a chance to load any.

As for the political sanity I have to grudgingly agree with you. Both coasts are a mess. I love Maine, I was born and have spent my entire 51 years here. Politically it's not quite as bad as most of the rest of New England (except for New Hampshire which seems to be even a little more conservative still) but its still mostly a cesspool politically.

Thick skin doesn't really enter into it.
It is the equivalent of walking into a police station, shouting "pigs" then laughing hysterically.

I literally just loaded the first amaxes today. Will try to shoot them by the end of the week.

I seated an "empty" (no primer no powder) to figure seat depth off the lands and tried to take it back apart with an impact hammer once I had the measurement - dumb idea - took the tip off.
Can't take these apart with an impact puller without padding the catch cup somehow.

Today's 308 load list:

Please except my appology for thr left handed jokes. Was not my intention to offend anyone.
I can't seem to find Varget around here' I can't find 8082xbr yet ether. I want to try both but can't bring myself to pay that darn $25.00 hazmat fee so I'll have to wait there.
I have plenty of IMR 4895 and IMR 4064 so I'm going to give those a try.

There is a group from around here that has gone every year for about the last 27 years. I have been going with them for the last three. We rotate PIC duties among us. I'll be a SIC on the way home for one of the 3 planes we take up this year.

The average size of the group is 14 +/- 2 - and we have a friend that lives in Fond du Lac through which we have access to the family cottage on the south end of the lake. Before that I had flown myself up three times -also always into FDL- with other friends or to see a friend from school that lived there for a while in the early 90's.

If you see 16 guys in hawaiian shirts, it is probably us.
