That a pretty nice .22. I have a friend that has a MK2 and its a pretty good shooter. I have a Ruger 10/22T that I have reworked and it is simply a pleasure to shot. What are your plans for the 20" varmint? I would assume this to be an AR15 upper. Will you be benching this weapon, using it for varmint hunting or both? I have a Noveske N4 with a 16" Recce low profile upper and I was concidering a 20"varmint upper for varmint hunting. You need to get both of those weapons oyt and stretch their legs a bit.....dratt1957 said:O.K., fine I just obtained a new toy,not a remington, a new savage mkII TR tactical in 22lr.I have308isgreat said:What is up fellow 700Rifle.com members? Probally make a Mini Sass out of it, mostly bench shooting it has a 1:9 twist should do good308isgreat said:That a pretty nice .22. I have a friend that has a MK2 and its a pretty good shooter. Cant wait to get a range report on the 700 project and see if that stock helps your cause. Love my Nikon on my 700! Really clear, dead on and rock solid optic. I have bought a few more boxes of factory rounds myself for the .308, but I just finished loading 150 rounds so my 168gr Sierra match king bullet supply is running low.NBT said:Well I am late to the Campfire, but if were into the "what am I doing to the builds"... I will bite.
I just ordered a Rock River Predator Pursuit upper for my AR lower that I have put together....60 day build time from Rock River. Cant wait to check this off the to do list.
Been reading up on optics for her...really looking at the Nikon M-223 line for it. Been very happy with the Nikon on the 700. Got another 250 rds of 150 gr ammo for the .308... and since the stock overhaul... (thanks to 308isgreat)have not had the chance to tune her in at the range...which is a sad state of affairs in it of itself... need more hours in the day.
Other than that...just enjoying the weekend.
What trigger are you using?NBT said:Well I am late to the Campfire, but if were into the "what am I doing to the builds"... I will bite.

My lower build is a Seekins Precision Lower..... a CMMG lower parts kit, Rock River 2 Stage Trigger, and the Fail Zero BCG. Stag A2 Butstockdratt1957 said:What trigger are you using?NBT said:Well I am late to the Campfire, but if were into the "what am I doing to the builds"... I will bite.

Thanks to 308isgreat, I have the Hogue stock off his on my SPS 700, non tactical version...and I must say that it was a great improvement over the factory stocker...stock.RBoomK said:Well.......
I was all excited about getting out to shoot the new HS equipped SPS Tac on Saturday, but had a bunch of things come up to ruin my day. Had to make the rounds on Mother's Day, so it was out as well. Got sick of taking the gun out of the safe every hour or so to fondle it, so I end up pulling the bolt and ship it to AZ Precision today for an oversize knob install. I'll get her out for a shoot eventually, I hope!
P.S. I have the Hogue stock for sale if anyone wants it.
Whats AZ Precision charging you if you dont mind me asking. I am going to do the same thing and want a reputable shop to do the work.RBoomK said:Well.......

That is an interesting look to the lower, don't think I have seen one in that cofiguration. Are youNBT said:My lower build is a Seekins Precision Lower..... a CMMG lower parts kit, Rock River 2 Stage Trigger, and the Fail Zero BCG. This is just what the Dr. ordered! Looks like I will have the bolt sent out for a Phoenix tactical knob install and have him apply black Cerakote to the knob and bolt. Thanks for the 411!RBoomK said:308,
The owner of AZ Precision is Keith Johns. He quoted me $75 for the knob, install, and re-finish. I sent him a drawing of a custom knob that he is going to machine for me, so I don't know what additional charges I will end up with yet. Keith comes highly recommended from a bunch of guys on the Sniper's Hide Forums. Check out his work on his website. I have no doubt that he will do a fantastic job.

Thanks...the lower has a unique look for sure....and the AR has a "long" way to go... optics...bipod...ect. That should take up some of the slack.308isgreat said:Nice AR NBT, but I have to get used to the curvy lines of that Seekins lower reciever.

I think you said you are looking at the Nikon M-233 line of scopes for this rifle. I too have been looking at these and they look like a pretty good scope for the price. I have also been looking at the Leupold Mark AR series and they too look good as well. My needs are to put my rounds spot on @ 100yds. I dont usually shoot my AR beyond 100yds and at that range the lesser magnification models would be ideal for varmint hunting. If it's much further out then it gets a .308 welcome mat!NBT said:Thanks...the lower has a unique look for sure....and the AR has a "long" way to go... optics...bipod...ect. Thanks Quick... on a side note...the Nikon M223 line of scopes are tough to come by...so I am giving this until July before I get the chance to mount up some accessories...which is driving me crazy. I want to shoot this so bad...sigh... :/ I do have an old Bushnell scope around here...which would get me on paper...but...kind of a "waste" of ammo...so I wait. To be honest, it's not that big of a deal...have plenty to do on other projects.Quick said:Nice AR mate. Looks nice. The seekings lower looks nice as well.
