Quick, the SPS Tactical has a RH 1:12" (.308).... according to Mel's review over at SC. :D I didn't even know that myslef... I had to look it up!
Interesting that Remington doesn't have that listed on it's website.
Mmmm, ok then, Will it stabalise 175s??

Yes.

I use the 175's in my M700 with a 1:12 twist.
I've had good results with the 168's, so I don't think the 175's would me much of a problem either. It's only about 4% more weight.
Ok then thanks for that guys.
Not sure if I am helping or not, I have competed at 1000 yard matches with the 168SMK and the 175 SMK, I had problems with the 168's NOT staying stable to 1000 yards, I then heard that the 168's are best suited to 600 yards, I ended up using the 175 vld Bergers and being pretty successfull and the case is .308 Win. Ok then mate thats good info thanks.
Ron, I suppose the Bergers have a higher BC than the 175 SMK's? If the 168's didn't do very well at 1,000 yards, I wouldn't expect that the 175 SMK's would either. But those VLD style bullets are probably the reason more so than the weight.

What did you get for MOA at 1,000 yards? Were you able to keep them on paper?

I find long range shooting fascinating!!

Both of the 175's shot well in my .308, the Berger just grouped a little better and gave a little more velocity than the Sierras. My build was a stock Rem 700 action with a fitted Lilja 6 groove 12 twist finished at 29" I could push the 175's at 2850fps with a load of 45.5 of IMR 4064. My best 5 shot group was at 5.XX", but my average was probably more like 10" to 12" for 5 shots. I probably had as much or more fun with that rifle as I do now with fully custom 1000 yard guns, for sure read the wind better then. Ron Tilley
Wow... 29" barrel. That's definitely long! Get some good velocity with that I bet!
