The attached is a bill proposed in New Mexico making it illegal to train anyone under the age of 12.

Not sure it really says that. It does say that no one under the age of 12 can be the Lawful Owner. And that those 12 and over can not be the legal owner without training. Not sure if that precludes training by the legal owner. But the Arms Length thing might mean that. There is going to be a lot more of these type laws proposed in the upcoming months. Under 12 certainly can not be the legal owner trained or not under this proposed law.

Look at “authorized user” and also Section 1 F and Section 1 G(2). At least that’s my take.

If I am available to help train a grandchild,or a individual who is wanting to learn about firearms, I will do it if they’re responsible enough,no freaking law will stop me.

We will have to see if it even gets past, but I read it as regardless of training, no one under 12 could be the authorized user, i.e. on their own.
